Expiring BenefitsWhat if you were given free money to spend on improving your smile, but there was one string attached: use it by the end of the year or lose it. For those fortunate enough to have insurance, that's exactly how you should view your benefits.
Typically, dental insurance policies have a set dollar limit ($1,500*) for the amount of treatment provided throughout the year. Insurance benefits not used by December 31st are not carried over into the new year. Alternatively, if your insurance plan requires you to pay a deductible, and if you have already reached the maximum for the year, then any additional treatment would be covered by your plan. If this is the case, it's important to get the most out of your plan before you face a new deductible.
You've paid for your insurance benefits, so make sure to use them before you lose them. If you think you might have expiring benefits we'd be happy to help you take advantage of them.
