A chipped tooth causes a great deal of discomfort, and it can also make one feel self-conscious, especially when they smile.
However, it's nothing that can't be helped.
Here are a few ways to prevent chipped teeth.
Don't Use Your Teeth As An Opener
Many times, people tend to use their teeth for opening items such as a packet of chips, caps of bottles, and many others. However, it is important to realize that your teeth aren't tools, and you should avoid using them as an opener for items, as it can cause them to crack and chip.
Reduce Your Sugar Content
Many people don't know this, but consuming a lot of sugar content can also cause your teeth to chip. The main reason behind this is that sugar is a breeding ground for bad bacteria in your mouth. After feeding on the sugar, the bacteria produce acidic waste that causes a lot of damage to the tooth enamel.
The acid can also lead to decay, thereby increasing the chance of a chipped tooth. So, you must limit your sugar consumption.
Don't Chew On Hard Foods
Sucking on a lollipop is one thing, but if you bite or chew on it, it can chip the hard outer layer of your teeth. Avoid biting or chewing on hard foods, and also make sure to brush your teeth every time you consume something sweet.
Get a Night Guard
Teeth grinding night is a common causal factor of teeth chipping. If you have a tendency to grind or clench your teeth at night, you might want to get a nightguard to protect your teeth from cracks and chips.
