What is a veneer?
A veneer is a very thin piece of porcelain that fits over your existing tooth. It can be used to change the appearance of your teeth, both in terms of color and shape. A veneer can be used to close a gap between adjacent teeth, fix a chip in the enamel, and cover stains or cracks. What’s more, once it’s in place, you will never be able to tell that it’s not a real tooth.
How is a veneer installed?
The first time you come in to see us, we will lightly etch the surface of your teeth to assist in the adhesion of the veneer. We will also take a mold of your teeth so we can fabricate a veneer that fits perfectly.
When you come back, first we’ll clean your teeth with a special solution to ensure proper adhesion. Then, we will use a special cement to bond your new veneer right over the top of your existing tooth. We’ll use a specialized light to cure the cement, and your veneers will be ready for use!
What happens next?
Nothing! The best part about having veneers is that they become a part of your tooth. You simply continue to brush and floss on a regular basis, and make sure to come in and have your regular cleanings. Maintain them like normal teeth, and they will last you for years and years to come.
